HUCKING FOR LAURA (HFL) IS ALL NEW FOR 2024!
THE HYPE
New time!
New theme!
New merch designs!
We’re moving it to Halloween-ish weekend so we can have fun in our favorite costumes and (hopefully) get some terrific weather. We will have all kinds of fun and bonuses for costumed players. Wear your favorite hats, costumes, masks, whatever. Look for more communications as we get closer to tourney-time on the costume fun.
HFL is a “Hat” style tourney – that means we will mix up the teams randomly, but with an effort to balance skill and experience. If you’re new to Ultimate or a savvy vet, this tourney is for you.
We are playing at a new location for us – Bear Creek Pioneers Park. See you out there!
THE HISTORY
Hucking For Laura (HFL) is a Charity Mixed Hat Tournament held in honor of a former teammate and friend to Houston Ultimate, Laura Powell Higgins.
Laura was a prominent ultimate player who gave much to the growth of the sport in Houston and Texas. In December of 2002, she was murdered leaving behind her husband and daughter. Since then, every HFL tournament has been in her honor.
** If you would like to donate, but cannot participate in the tournament, we are accepting donations through PayPal: [email protected] Please include “HFL donation” in the notes **

Why
This year HFL will support Bo’s Place and the Houston Youth Scene!
Bo’s Place exists to enhance the lives of those who have experienced the death of a loved one. It is a bereavement center offering grief support services to children, ages 3 to 18, and their families who have experienced the death of a child or an adult in their immediate family, as well as programs for grieving adults. Bo’s Place is founded on the belief that grieving children sharing their experiences with each other greatly helps in their grief journey. Bo’s Place offers a safe place, where children, families and individuals can grieve in the own way, at their own pace and be surrounded by people who understand.
