The Level 1 Youth Coaching Certification Course focuses on coaching philosophy and some fundamentals of coaching. The clinic is highly participatory; and will be in a classroom and outside, weather permitting. You will need to come prepared to be introspective and share! The topics covered in the three hours and fifteen minutes are:
- Coaching philosophy and leadership
- Spirit of the Game/Self-Officiating
- Structuring Practices and Age-Appropriate Techniques
- Transformational Coaching
- Local Disc Organization Information
You must attend the entire clinic to be eligible to take the certification exam.

Eligibility
To register and attend the clinic you must have completed the Foundational Coach training and have completed a current background check and SafeSport training at the time of the clinic.
Representation and Diversity (RAD) Grant
To aid in diversifying the coaching community, USA Ultimate is offering grants to coaches from underrepresented groups. If you are needing financial assistance and meet either of the criteria below, you are eligible for a RAD grant to cover the cost of the certification clinic.
- You are a woman or non-binary coach.
- You are a BIPOC coach (Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color).
The grant will also cover the cost of the Foundational Coach test and a non-player membership. Coach must take the test within 12 months of certification class.
