Youth and Outreach Coordinator
HUC is excited to be looking for our first ever paid part-time staff position. This position will primarily assist HUC with its youth programs and community outreach.
For this role HUC would like to identify a local professional who genuinely cares about the growth of Ultimate in the greater Houston area. The ideal individual would want to be a part of introducing the sport to new players as well as expanding HUC’s youth programs into local schools.
This role will assist HUC in its mission to expand Ultimate in the greater Houston area and ensure that our community continues to reflect the diversity, inclusion, and vibrancy of our city.
About the Position
As a Youth and Outreach Coordinator, you will be responsible for organizing, developing, and implementing programs and activities that engage and support youth to learn and play Ultimate Frisbee in the greater Houston Area. Your main role is two parts: to design and execute programs that meet the diverse needs and interests of young people and to increase awareness and potential opportunities for more people of all ages to participate in the Houston Ultimate Community.
Your duties as a Youth and Outreach Coordinator include engaging with schools, community groups and parents/guardians, defining and running events, supervising volunteers, identifying grants and funding opportunities, managing budgets and maintaining program records. You will also need to collaborate with other agencies and organizations to maximize the impact of your programs through partnerships, grants and sponsorship solicitations. This role requires certifications in youth program support and safety. The cost of these will be covered by HUC if a successful applicant does not already have them. This role reports to the president of the HUC Board. Note: HUC reserves the right to assign additional duties, as needed.
To excel as a Youth and Outreach Coordinator, you need experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds, excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, and an ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. A successful candidate can effectively prioritize and communicate with HUC board members and leadership.

Desired Start Date: August 1, 2024
Hourly Rate: $20-25 depending on experience
Required Qualifications:
- Experience working with youth (ages 5-18) and organizing youth programs
- Knowledge and understanding of Ultimate or similar sports
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Passion for promoting active lifestyles and inclusivity in sports
- Ability to connect with diverse communities and build relationships
- Familiarity with the Greater Houston area and its youth programs and sports landscape
- Experience researching and preparing applications for youth and community grants
- Basic budgeting and financial reporting
- Be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Reside or willing to commute to the Greater Houston area to perform job duties on site
Nice to Have Qualifications:
- Associates degree or related experience in a relevant field and relevant certifications, such as Childcare Training, First Aid and CPR, and Youth Work.
- Spanish language proficiency, or willingness to learn
- Sports coaching experience
- Social Media Marketing experience
